Many times an application will need to have permissions changed so that other users may have various levels of access. Or permissions for certain users or groups will need to be removed for various reason.
One of the first things that needs to be checked is to make sure that Application Level Permission Settings are enabled on your tenant. To do this, perform the following steps.
- Go into Portal Settings
- Then select Tenant Settings on the left side of the screen
- Scroll down until you see the Application Permissions section and select “Yes” to Enable Application Permission Control. Then select “Save”.
Once you have verified that Application Level Permissions have been enabled, you can then modify permissions for each of your applications. There are three locations within the tenant that allow you to get to the Application Permissions dialog.
- Within the Manage Center
- Within the Build Apps
- During the application publish process
Within the Manage Center
Go into the “Manage Center” and select “Application Management” and then “Permissions”
Then select “Application Permissions”
Next select your application in which you wish to change permissions and select the pencil icon to open the Applications Permissions dialog.
Within Build Apps
Go to the Build Apps section of your tenant. Select the application you wish to change permissions on and then select the “Permissions” button. This will open the Applications Permissions dialog.
During the Application Publish process
When you publish an application, a dialog box will appear as the last step of publishing that allows you to select “Set Permissions” which will open the Applications Permissions dialog.
Application Permissions Dialog
We have now discussed 3 avenues to get to the Application Permissions dialog. Now let’s take a look at modifying permissions once you’ve opened the Application Permissions dialog. Below is a view of this dialog.
As you will see there are 4 tabs that you can assign permissions to:
- Owners – These are the administrators of the application and can set permissions.
- Designers – These are the designers and can make changes within the application.
- Initiators – These are the users or groups that can start the application
- ReportView Viewers – Can view the reports
Each of these 4 tabs are laid out in the same manner allowing you to add or remove users’ and/or groups’ permissions. For each permission simple select whether it is a User or Group you wish to add, then search for that group in the search bar. Select desired user or group from the results window and then select the “+” button to add to the window on the right. Once all permissions are set for each of the tabs then select the “Update” button. Permissions will not be set until the “Update” button is selected.
