Concatenation Question

Hi. I'm populating a text field based upon the choice a user makes with a dropdown. The process queries a SharePoint list - a column named "department" populates the dropdown. Another column named "manager_id" populates the text field with info from the same row. When a user chooses a department in the form, the textbox populates with the id of the manager from the department. Everything works just fine. However, I need to concatenate a constant in front of each manager id. Anyone have an idea how to proceed with the concatenation? Thanks....

  If you use a formula field, you can do the concatenation from the dropdown into another hidden single-line-of-text field.  You could also show the formula field itself.
