Set Current Date when specific Dropdown List Value is selected

I'm trying to get the Date set for when a specific Value from a Dropdown List is selected. Neither of Rules or Formulas seem to work so far... is there anything else I could try?

-The Formula Validates correctly (obviously...), but displays nothing...

-The Rule does not provide an option for 'now' / 'current date'

  Try using Current date from the Process Data > System Data   list on the far right

  One tip (that you may already be aware of):  When using system data fields such as ${CurrentDate}, you can only test them at run-time.  If you try to preview your form from the form designer, the system fields will not resolve.  You have to publish the application and then test it.

  I usually set a hidden field to the current date as the default value, then copy that value into fields like this one when users select certain options.
