Date form control - set from system variable

I am trying to setup a date control "maximum date" based on variable.

According to the instructions you just drag the variable from the App Data.

However, on instruction videos it is just the short path: ${MaxDate}, when I drag it, the full path is pulled: ${/pd:AP/pd:formFields/pd:MaxDate}

Anyway, none of them is working.
I tried to generate this MaxDate from formula (now + 1 month just to test it) and adding date control as well. (To make sure it is a date format!)

Does anyone know how this should work?

  Could you let us know at which step are you trying the achieve the above use case? Is it in the Start Task or in a Standard Task?
