Form width and background color

Is it possible to modify form width and background color? Assuming this can be accomplished with css but I failed in my attempt. Wondering if someone has this need and was able to accomplish it.

  Hi,

  Try the following css:

   

  #formPreview
  {
  width: 60%;
  }

  #container
  {
  background-color: #000000;
  background-image: none;
  }
