Reminder Email Frequency Setting
Hello,
I've looked through AP's Online Help site for definitions of the following terms and am unable to find any solid definitions for:
- Task expires
- Task inactive
I have a standard task with time to complete at 30 days. I'd like to have a reminder email sent out:
- Start: 27 days before task expires
- Frequency: Every 3 days until task expires or is inactive.
- Basically, send out an email to task participant every 3 days until they complete the task (or the Time to Complete is up).
I'm not sure whether I should select task "expires" or "inactive."
AP Online Help says:
- Every - Specifies the frequency to send repeated reminder emails. You can specify a number of minutes, hours, days, or weeks, whether to use business time and whether to stop sending the reminders after the task expires, or after it is inactive for some other reason.
Thank you!

Hi Cindy,
Here's how Harish on the AgilePoint Support Team explained it to me.
"Task due date is the time within which the task to be completed by the participant.
Expire date is the time duration, upon which the task will be moved to Overdue status but the participant can still complete the task.
Inactive date is the time duration up which the task will be cancelled and no longer available to complete.Consider Time to Complete is set to 3 days, when task is assigned on Monday then the deadline for participant to complete the task is on 3 days from assignment, i.e. Wednesday. Since the task has been sent immediately, the same day is also considered for count. Wednesday end of day will be expire day and task will be moved to Overdue status. Inactive state means that task is no longer valid to be completed. It is when task has been cancelled due to process termination or if there was a timeout configured on that eForm activity."
So, if you want it to send reminder emails until the participant completes the task, choose until task is inactive.
