Limit the subform occurrence when importing from an excel

There is an option in the subform configuration to set the Maximum Items. This property only seems to work if a user manually adds one row at a time. Once you reach the max item allowed, you won't be able to add a new row.

 

However, the Maximum Items does not appply when importing from an excel.

How do I limit the number of items imported from an excel?

For example. I limit the Maximum Items of the subform to 25. But was still able to import 35 rows of data.
