Concatenate Text in eForm and in Process

I have NX 6 (upgrading soon) and need to build an ID field via a concatenation. How can you concatenate text in an eForm and in a Process (I've searched and can't find it).

For the eForm, I have a text field and a constant (or this can be another text field with the constant as it's default value) that I need to concatenate within in the form. (Example field value: ABC, constant: -, need: "ABC-"

For the Process, I need to take the concatenation from the eForm and add the date (the date part I've already completed date conversions in text variables). Example ABC- (from eform) + "05"+"07"+"2020" = "ABC-05072020"

(even if this can all be completed in the Process, I'd still like to know how to concatenate within the eForm - I've got this need in another case)

You could use formula control for that. Is it avialable in v6?

I tried a formula control, but apparently can't get the syntax correct. I tried various options... what is the syntax for it?

Also, is there a resource that covers all the different things you can do with the formula (aside from math, that's all I could find). For instance, can you parse a date field?
