I have been using the sub forms for the past year for exactly that purpose and if you are careful you can use the same lookup to populate them.

How do you get it to let you consider the subform reusable? The documentation I put a link to doesn't seem to align with realities I see (we're on NX 6.0 SP1 SU2 Hotfix 3)

So once you create the subform and save and publish it you will find it in the control library where you can just drag and drop on to a different form

I may be missing something - I created, saved, published. Now I see it in the control library, but only within that 1 "application" - Do you know if I should be able to see the subform on multiple applications? (I can see for all processes within 1 application)

And, if I edit the subform in 1 form, it doesn't seem to update in the other place I'm using it. If I edit it from the library, things like labels update, but added fields don't show up.

Does this seem accurate? I'm probably going to open a formal support ticket about how this all works unless I'm just missing something obvious.

That does seem correct. The controls cannot be shared between applications. And  the subforms need to be correct before you use them.

Thank you Scott for chiming in! You are correct.

As of today, subforms are reusable within an application, and as Scott mentioned, once a subform is created it is added to 'My Control Library' and can be reused across processes and forms within an application.

However, if any changes are made to the controls used in a subform (i.e. change in labels, properties, etc), we will need to push these changes back to the control library.  To do so, please click on 'promote to library' which will in turn reflect the changes to the other forms.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks! We will try that approach.
