Append text to text field

Hello everyone,

I have an eform that when submitted is assigned to an individual (Person A) to do an initial review of the form submission and then assign to a second person (Person B) to review/approve. Person B has the option to send back to Person A or assign to Person C, for further review, etc. The workflow has a loop set up so that the form can be assigned to as many individuals as needed until it's marked as approved. With each assignment, I have an open Comment (text area control) for the user to add their comments into. I also have a second read-only comment field that i would like to show the cumulative comments that Person A, B, C, etc have submitted when they review the submission. I'm stuck trying to get the cumulative text field to append each person's comments together as the form loops around. I've tried using a simple Process Data update control that sums the cumulative comment field with the new comment on each loop but as expected this just overwrites the cumulative comment field instead of appending to it. Is there a method to accomplish an appended style comments field that i'm missing? Thanks for your time
