Many times an AgilePoint application needs to store a file or files on a shared network drive as driven by the business requirements. The problem that occurs is that it seems as if one could simply enter the network share as a UNC path in the File System Folder Path field (eg \\server\share\subfolder). However this method will not work as authentication issues come into play, not to mention that a drive letter on the AgilePoint server must be part of the path.
Another scenario might be that the server administrator logs in and maps the shared drive to the AgilePoint server creating a required drive letter on the server. However only that admin would have access to this resource, thus it not being available to everyone else including the AgilePoint service account.
For this reason, AgilePoint has developed an AgileConnector called Map Drive AgileConnector.
What the provided AgileConnector does is that it will open mapped drive under context of the AgilePoint service account at server startup so that AgilePoint has access to that drive while it is running. Also, it brings one more advantage that now network drive is give a local file drive letter so it behaves as if you were using local drive which removes all complications, even in the case of a Network Load Balanced environment.
This way user does not have to worry about mapping drive himself on server. The AgilePoint Server automatically will take care of it.
